The SPRAYDRENCH® range of safety eyewashes can be broken up by: Eyewash Operation Type/Shower Family, Material and operation. In general, these can be used to build the correct model number. Within each of these groupings there are number of specialisations and custom adaptations available.

Eyewash Station 

A. Valve actuator shall be easy to locate and readily accessible to users. 

B. “Hands-fee” stay-open valve activates in one second or less. 

C. Protect spray heads from airborne contaminants. 

D. Controlled low velocity flow rinses both eyes and is not injurious to user. 

E. Unit must deliver at least 11.4 litres of water per minute for 15 minutes. 

F. Use test gauge to test water flow. 

G. Connect unit to uninterruptible water supply delivering at least 11.4 l/min. 

H. Outlet heads should be positioned between 83.8 cm and 114.3 cm from the floor and at least 15.3 cm from the wall or nearest obstruction.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Identification

Identify eyewash with highly visible sign. Area around eye wash shall be well-lit.

Water Temperature

Water delivered to safety station shall be tepid. (lukewarm)

Location

Install safety station within 10 seconds of hazard, on the same level as hazard and with unobstructed travel path. 

Maintenance

Activate the safety station at least weekly. Inspect annually for compliance with standard.

Training

Instruct all employees in the location and proper use of the safety stations.
